Casino Royale |
To be honest I have lived in the Pierce Brosnan era, so I was initially disappointed with Casino Royale. Watching the past Bond movies (Diamonds Live Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, A View To Kill) however have changed my perception about Ian Fleming's secret agent. I agree with the common view that Daniel Craig is much too blond to play the 007.
Casino Royale differs significantly by the lack of ridiculous gadgets, focusing more on the formative years of Bond, how he attained double zero status and how James Bond grew into his character as a suave, aggressive and chauvinist man. I personally thought the Texas Hold 'Em poker game was intriguing, but the 'Bond Girl' role, Vesper Lynd, was more typical than usual, making lots of love before ending up betraying him yet helping him in a way.
The Aston Martin DBS too didn't feature much, except for the part where he overturns the car to avoid crushing Vesper. M, however played a more important role compared to past Bond films. Overall, it was something different, which was good.

Independence Dinner |
Dinner at Carrie's place was just the perfect way to celebrate the end of our torturous journey. More importantly, those who attended the dinner were the very 4 people who made my form 6 life a meaningful one at the very least.
Rushed home after exam, bathed, then rushed to Kasthuri's place to fetch her, then Viwa, then Tommy. Rain was damn heavy, winds up to 40kph; but I was early for the first time! Jam was crazy. 1 hour just to take us from Bdr Tun Razak station to Tasik Selatan Station. Had to stop by at Shell for some refreshments since Tommy hadn't ate since morning. Haha.
Food was yummylicious; prepared by Carrie's aunt. Sotongs and prawns had no choice but to end up in our stomachs since they were too yummy. Haha. Left the cam in the car so didn't have much chance to take pics.
Carrie looks sweet Tommy and Viwa Kasthuri caught red-handed No, I'm not eating it.. Cake cutting time Before : After : |

Life resumed |
Finally.. 865 days after the day I first embarked on this path thrown upon neither by fate nor by chance, it boils down to this very day. Surprisingly, there were no screams of joy or such nonsense. Maybe we've matured since our last merdeka? (SPM) Or maybe there were just relief. Relief by the fact that no one chose to be in this position yet the lack of alternatives just forces it upon us. Nonetheless, its over.
My life throughout the sixth form was one with mixed feelings. Bad because form six was my last choice (behind working), bad because the respect and admiration I had for certain individuals were diluted. Bad because the school that I once thought highly of, is no longer going to be that high up in my thoughts. Good because I met the one I loved most, good because I met friends who are unique and honest. Good, in a way because I had experienced the cruelty of politicking.
A burden has been lifted, I feel much more free-spirited. And I look forward to resuming my life. |
